Transfer to Nanu Oya station for the celebrated hill country train journey, four hours of some of the most beautiful scenery in Asia as tea estates cascade down impossibly steep ridges, waterfalls arc over iron bridges, and cloud moves through mountain passes like slow breath. Arrive in Ella refreshed and wonder-struck. Visit Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak before the light fades.

Travel southwest through the dry lowland plains to Udawalawe National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s most reliable destinations for elephant watching.
