Horton Plains Day Tour

Best Starting From: Nuwara Eliya/ Ella/ Kandy/ Hatton

Rise before dawn for this spectacular excursion to Horton Plains National Park, Sri Lanka’s most dramatic high-altitude landscape. At 2,100 metres above sea level, the park’s cloud forest trails lead through a misty montane wilderness of endemic rhododendrons, waterfalls, and sweeping moorland to World’s End, a sheer escarpment where the plateau drops nearly a kilometre to the distant lowland jungle in a view of staggering scale. Baker’s Falls, a powerful and beautifully framed cascade set among tree ferns and moss-draped boulders, is a highlight en route. The cool, fresh mountain air, the endemic birdlife singing in the canopy, and the otherworldly quality of the highland mist make Horton Plains one of the most memorable day experiences Sri Lanka offers. Best visited between January and April before morning mist obscures the World’s End views.
